Testimonials

“I want to pass on my deep felt gratitude and some of the emotions I’ve experienced over the last few days. I’ve never encountered such an immediate and public thirst for information as Pestival and the Pavilion generated. I have many beautiful stories of encounters with people who passed through and went away with a tale to tell, a slightly different take on the world and I would even say a reassessment of humanities position within nature. A small sense of wonderment and awe tempered with a thrill that humanity is learning about nature again.”
— Rupert Soar, Freeform Engineering

“Bridget creates communities who work together, which is an extraordinary skill and achievement. This ability to create and harness the interest as well as support of communities fills one of the great gaps in senior leadership in the creative cultural sector.”
— Women 2 Watch Cultural Leadership Programme

“The media coverage you attracted was phenomenal and indeed I copied the picture in The Times and included it in my report to Commissioners at their meeting last week!  I am really glad that we took a bit of punt with supporting Pestival, which initially looked a bit wacky for us but has really paid off – and delivered too. Well done.”
— Malcolm Shirley CEng,.Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851

I came up with the idea for Pestival back in 2004 after visiting an insect film festival called FIFI in the Pyrenees. I was very pleased when I discovered that Mark Pilkington shared my enthusiasms and together we co-produced the first Pestival in 2006. To do this the Pestival Team grew and set up The Insect Arts Club, a not-for-profit organisation with an aim to create inter-species events, books, media, art and symposiums for the benefit of all, and we soon collaborated with other organisations such as the Serpentine Gallery, Art Angel and Resonance FM, to name a few.
